Gas prices are on the rise and there seems to be no end in sight. It seems when gas prices rise so does everything else, groceries, deliveries, etc. What are the best ways to deal with the rising gas prices and its effects on the economy and your family?
There are ways to save on gas itself. Combine trips to go where you need to go. Dedicate a morning or afternoon to all errands if possible. Making one trip can save a tremendous amount instead of small trips daily. If you can switch from a large gas guzzling vehicle to a smaller car that does better on gas mileage, do it. Ask yourself if you really need all the room in that SUV or minivan? Can your family get by with a four seat family car and a trunk? If so, consider a trade.
Find alternative transportation to your car. If you live in a city that offers bus or subway transportation utilize it. If you live close enough to work to bicycle or walk, do that. Even mopeds, scooters or motorcycles do much better on gas mileage. If possible, car pool with people who work where you work or who work in the same area. Even car pooling with other moms to the grocery store, pharmacy and other places where typical errands are done can help.
Rising gas prices also cause a trickle down effect on groceries, UPS deliveries and other things that rely on delivery trucks to get their supplies. Consumers can save on groceries by clipping coupons, watching sale flyers and buying in bulk when it is cost effective. Stay at work for lunch instead of going and driving to a destination to buy lunch. Each in the work cafeteria or bring your lunch.
Rising gas prices are hard on everyone. Try these tips to ease the hardship for you.
