Even if the law has been pushed by the insurance agencies, wearing a safety belt is something everyone should do. However, safety belts are still a challenge for some. The excuses are fun the hear, but the results of an accident, where someone wasn’t belted in, are devastating.
Give Traveling Kids a Chance
There is nothing more tragic than reading about a car accident where children have been killed. So many times the details become public, and we learn that the children were not wearing safety belts. Don’t give in to your children and let them roam around your car unbuckled. Safety belts should be a part of traveling they’ve always known. They may not be able to see out the window, but that’s a problem everyone can live with. Today, booster seats are required until a child is a certain weight and height. That is to make sure the safety belt, itself, doesn’t cause injury because it hits the child across the neck.
Belt Free Adults
Probably the most common excuse you’ll hear from an adult is that they are free, so they should be free to forgo the safety belt. That’s a good argument, but why would anyone want to leave their loved ones with that tragedy? Others will say they are uncomfortable, and that is very true. On the other hand, being thrown from a car doesn’t feel too good either. The likelihood of surviving is pretty slim, too. Some people simply don’t think about it. That’s a hard one to buy when the car itself will warn them when they are not wearing it.
Bottom line, no excuse is good enough. Always wear your safety belt.
